The current economic processes in the world, the problems caused by the military conflict between Russia and Ukraine, which is the main producer and exporter of food wheat, supply risks, restrictions on the export of food wheat, and the increase in the demand for food wheat in the world market have caused the price increase. These and other factors have affected the price of flour and bread in Azerbaijan. Currently, there is an increase in the price of flour and, as a result, bread in the domestic market.
It should be noted that the price of food wheat, flour and bread in Azerbaijan is not determined by regulated tariffs, but in accordance with the principles of market economy, on the basis of supply and demand, and according to the price of food wheat in the world market (including the main import markets). According to the Law "On Entrepreneurial Activity", entrepreneurs freely determine the prices for their products (works, services). However, in order to prevent manipulations in the price of flour and bread in our country against the background of the price increase in the world food market, the State Service for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control under the Ministry of Economy implements legal measures. Thus, the State Service conducts regular monitoring in the consumer market in order to prevent unjustified price changes and monitor compliance with antimonopoly legislation during price formation.
For your information, the official website of the State Service for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control under the Ministry of Economy has posted and regularly updated information on wholesale centers and outlets of flour producers, wholesale prices, as well as working hours and contact numbers.
