A round table meeting was held between representatives of the Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control State Service under the Ministry of Economy and members of the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in Azerbaijan.
The head of the State Service, Mammad Abbasbeyli, noted that institutional reforms have been carried out in the fields of free market principles, anti-monopoly control and competition in the country's economy, and brought to attention the measures implemented in the direction of improving the business environment and expanding public-private sector partnership. Speaking about the improvement of control mechanisms for preventing anti-competitive behavior, the head of the Service emphasized that the Competition Code was submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers after receiving a positive opinion from the relevant state institutions.
At the event, information was given on the work done in the direction of improving the mechanisms of control over the activity of natural monopolies, the role of state procurement in increasing competitiveness, increasing quality and competitiveness, improving the areas of consumer market control and protection of consumer rights.
At the end, an exchange of views was held on the topic of ensuring a healthy competitive environment, and questions of the members of the American Chamber of Commerce in Azerbaijan were answered.
