The State Service for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control under the Ministry of Economy has decided to file a lawsuit against housing construction cooperatives for violating antitrust laws in connection with the installation of water meters in newly built apartment buildings.
During the review of the case, it was found that the water meters intended for consumers in multi-apartment residential buildings were installed by “Azersu” Open Joint-Stock Company on the basis of a contract concluded with housing cooperatives and not with residents, and the cost of meters was demanded from consumers.
According to the decision, “Azersu” Open Joint-Stock Company was instructed to install meters at the expense of the water supply company based on individual contracts with apartment owners, the construction of which was completed in accordance with the law and the internal supply system installed in accordance with technical specifications.
The decision also reflected the solution of other issues arising from the connection of respective apartments to the water supply network, as well as the provision of measures envisaged by the relevant normative legal acts by the Joint Stock Company.
