In order to bring national standards governing tourism activities in the country in line with international requirements, a new government standard AZS 906-2022 “Tourism services. Classification of accommodation facilities. Minimum requirements" has been adopted.
The "Azerbaijan Institute of Standardization" a public legal entity subordinated to the State Service for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control under the Ministry of Economy (AZSTAND) has approved the standard and included it in the State Fund of normative documents on standardization. Due to the adoption of the new document, the state standards AZS 369-2009 "Tourist-excursion services. Accommodation. General requirements" and AZS 755-2014 "Minimum requirements for hotels and hotel-type accommodation" have expired.
Application of the new standard will allow keeping records in the tourism register, determining the type and category of accommodation and determining the minimum requirements for services provided.
