The platform enables citizens and organizations that require precise time synchronization to access accurate and traceable time based on Azerbaijan’s National Standard Time, UTC (AZ), which was approved by the International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM) in 2025.

The Azerbaijan Institute of Metrology (AzMI), operating under the State Service for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, has launched the official online portal (https://aztime.metrology.gov.az/), which displays Azerbaijan’s National Standard Time, UTC (AZ), in real time.

Telecommunications operators, audiovisual broadcasting organizations, financial and banking institutions, transport and energy infrastructure entities, cybersecurity and data-processing institutions, research institutes, government agencies, and other relevant stakeholders can use the platform for their operational needs. Reliable and traceable time sources play a critical role in applications ranging from timestamping financial transactions to synchronizing transport navigation systems and core network infrastructure.

Azerbaijan is among the countries that contribute directly to the determination of Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). Time-difference data obtained from the cesium atomic clocks at AzMI’s Time, Frequency, and Microwave Measurements Laboratory and global satellite systems are systematically transmitted to the BIPM for inclusion in the calculation of UTC. As a result, Azerbaijan contributes to the international determination of UTC while ensuring the traceability of its national standard time to the international timekeeping system.
