Azerbaijan to Become an Associate Member of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC)

From 1 January 2026, the Republic of Azerbaijan will be represented in the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) as an Associate Member through AZSTAND.

From 1 January 2026, the Republic of Azerbaijan will be represented in the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) as an Associate Member through the Azerbaijan Institute of Standardization (AZSTAND), operating under the State Agency for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The main objective of IEC membership is to accelerate the adoption of international standards in electrical, electronic and related technologies and to strengthen Azerbaijan’s role in international standardization.

Associate Membership will give the country access to the IEC standards database and the opportunity to participate in the technical committees responsible for standardization in electrical engineering, electronics, industry, information and communication technologies, robotics and nanotechnology. This will contribute to the development of these sectors in Azerbaijan, facilitate the adoption of new technologies and promote the introduction of international and innovative approaches.

In October this year, the National Electrotechnical Committee was established to meet the requirements for AZSTAND’s admission as an Associate Member of the IEC.

Note: The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is a leading global organization that develops and publishes consensus-based international standards and administers conformity assessment systems for electrical and electronic products and related services in the electrotechnology sector.
