The event devoted extensive discussion to the application of international standards in the oil and gas sector, strengthening metrology and calibration processes, and improving quality management systems.

Representatives of the Azerbaijan Institute of Metrology (AzMI) and the Azerbaijan Institute of Standardisation (AZSTAND), which operate under the Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control Agency under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan (the Agency), took part in the “World Quality Week 2025” event organised by the State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOCAR).

Presentations on the topic and a panel discussion were held as part of the event, which was opened by Fuad Musayev, Vice-President of SOCAR.

The speakers at the panel discussion on “Building a Sustainable Quality Culture by Thinking Differently” were Khamis Seyranov, Director General of the Azerbaijan Institute of Metrology; Kamala Mammadzada, Deputy Director General of the Azerbaijan Institute of Standardisation; Nariman Akbarov, Head of Department at SOCAR; and Ömer Özkan, Quality Management Manager at SOCAR Türkiye. Khamis Seyranov, Director General of AzMI, spoke on “The Role of Metrology and Calibration in the Oil and Gas Industry”, and Kamala Mammadzada, Deputy Director General of AZSTAND, on “The Application of International Standards in the Oil and Gas Industry and Their Role in Ensuring Quality”.

In the speeches, information was provided on measures being taken to improve product and service quality in the oil and gas sector, the importance of applying international standards in this field, and the role of metrology and calibration in ensuring reliable measurements in the oil and gas industry, the safety of production processes and increased industrial efficiency. In addition, attention was drawn to the existing mechanisms of cooperation between AzMI and AZSTAND and SOCAR, the contribution of this cooperation to improving quality management systems, and prospects for future development.
