Two new state standards have been adopted to establish international requirements for the competence of inspection bodies and proficiency testing providers.

The Azerbaijan Standardization Institute (AZSTAND), a public legal entity operating under the State Agency for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, has adopted two new state standards: AZS ISO/IEC 17020:2026, “Conformity assessment — Requirements for the operation of various types of bodies performing inspection,” and AZS ISO/IEC 17043:2026, “Conformity assessment — General requirements for proficiency testing.”

The implementation of these standards will enable inspection services and proficiency testing activities to be carried out in line with international requirements, thereby enhancing the reliability and objectivity of conformity assessment results.

The draft standards were developed based on proposals submitted by the Technical Committee for Standardization on “Conformity Assessment” (AZSTAND/TC 08) established under AZSTAND. Following their adoption, the standards were included in the State Fund of Normative Documents on Standardization.
