Employees of the State Agency for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan participated in the seminar “Introduction to Competition Law”, organized by the OECD-GVH Regional Centre for Competition (RCC), jointly established by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the Hungarian Competition Authority (GVH).
Held at the Faculty of Law of the University of Málaga (Spain), the seminar aimed to enhance professional competencies in the field of competition law, to facilitate the exchange of experience on practical issues encountered in day-to-day activities, and to promote the sharing of approaches adopted by competition authorities in different countries. In addition to theoretical presentations, the programme included practical exercises and discussions.
Presentations were delivered by representatives of the competition authorities of Italy, Hungary, Sweden, Belgium and Finland, as well as by an expert from the Federal Cartel Office of Germany (Bundeskartellamt). They covered case studies on abuse of a dominant position in various jurisdictions, practical cases concerning merger control, key instruments for safeguarding competition, and market studies conducted in Spain. Current issues concerning the role of the relevant authorities in competition advocacy were also discussed.
At the conclusion of the seminar, certificates of participation were awarded to the participants.
