The newly adopted state standards establish safety, quality, durability, and performance requirements for furniture products.

The Azerbaijan Standardization Institute (AZSTAND), a public legal entity operating under the State Agency for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, has adopted 31 new state standards in the furniture sector:

• AZS EN 527-2:2026 — “Office furniture — Work tables and desks — Part 2: Safety, strength and durability requirements”;
• AZS EN 581-1:2026 — “Outdoor furniture — Seating and tables for camping, domestic and contract use — Part 1: General safety requirements”;
• AZS EN 581-2:2026 — “Outdoor furniture — Seating and tables for camping, domestic and contract use — Part 2: Mechanical safety requirements and test methods”;
• AZS EN 581-3:2026 — “Outdoor furniture — Seating and tables for camping, domestic and contract use — Part 3: Mechanical safety requirements for tables”;
• AZS EN 1023-2:2026 — “Office furniture — Screens — Part 2: Mechanical safety requirements”;
• AZS EN 1729-1:2026 — “Furniture — Chairs and tables for educational institutions — Part 1: Functional dimensions”;

• AZS GOST 16854:2026 — “Auditorium armchairs — General specifications”.

The adoption of these state standards is aimed at supporting the development of the domestic furniture industry, improving the quality and safety of furniture products, expanding the range and competitiveness of export-oriented products, supporting entrepreneurship, and meeting consumer expectations.

The draft state standards were adopted based on proposals submitted by the Technical Committee for Standardization on “Furniture Industry Products” (AZSTAND/TC 14), established under AZSTAND. Following their adoption, the standards were included in the State Fund of Normative Documents on Standardization.

Note: These state standards are included among the reference standards for the technical regulation “On the Safety of Furniture Products,” which is planned to be adopted under the “State Program on Harmonizing the National Standardization System with International Requirements for 2023–2025.”
