A training seminar on public procurement was organized for media representatives to provide them with comprehensive information on current legal requirements, procurement procedures and stages, regulatory mechanisms, and the roles of procuring entities and oversight bodies.
The seminar, titled “Public Procurement: Process, Participants and Control Mechanisms,” was organized by the State Agency for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan for media representatives. Held in Shamakhi, the event brought together more than 40 journalists representing various media outlets.
The training aimed to enhance media professionals’ specialized knowledge of public procurement and provide them with information on key issues and practical challenges in the field.
In his opening remarks, Deputy Head of the State Agency Mirza Mirzayev highlighted ongoing efforts to expand businesses’ access to public procurement opportunities and advance electronic procurement solutions, while encouraging greater participation by businesses in procurement processes. He noted that the key objectives of these efforts are to ensure accessibility and broad participation in procurement procedures, create equal opportunities for market participants, and promote the efficient use of public funds.
The seminar continued with a presentation by Nijat Khalilov, an official of the State Agency, who provided information on the legal and regulatory framework governing public procurement, the stages of the procurement process, and the respective roles of procuring entities, oversight bodies, and suppliers.
The training concluded with a Q&A session, during which practical examples were discussed and participants were provided with detailed explanations.
