Three new state standards have been adopted in the field of metrology to enhance the accuracy and reliability of utility meter measurements.
The Azerbaijan Standardization Institute (AZSTAND), a public legal entity operating under the State Agency for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, has adopted three new state standards in the field of metrology:
- AZS EN 12261:2026 — “Gas meters — Turbine gas meters”;
- AZS EN 14236:2026 — “Ultrasonic domestic gas meters”;
- AZS ISO 4892-3:2026 — “Plastics — Methods of exposure to laboratory light sources — Part 3: Fluorescent UV lamps.”
The standards establish requirements for the operating principles, safety, manufacture, and testing of measuring instruments, as well as methods for assessing changes in the colour, strength, and other physical properties of plastic materials resulting from exposure to solar radiation.
The draft standards were developed based on proposals submitted by the Technical Committee for Standardization on the “Metrology Field” (AZSTAND/TC 47), established under AZSTAND on the basis of the “Azerbaijan Institute of Metrology” Public Legal Entity. Following their adoption, the standards were incorporated into the State Fund of Normative Documents on Standardization.
