The implementation of the new state standards will contribute to ensuring that adventure tourism activities are organized in a safer and more efficient manner.

The Azerbaijan Institute of Standardization (AZSTAND), operating under the State Agency for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, has adopted the following state standards in the field of tourism:

• AZS ISO 3163:2026 — Adventure Tourism — Vocabulary;
• AZS ISO 21101:2026 — Adventure Tourism — Safety Management Systems — Requirements;
• AZS ISO 21103:2026 — Adventure Tourism — Information for Participants.

These state standards establish clear definitions of safety and service-related terminology in the field of adventure tourism, set requirements for safety management systems to be implemented by organizations providing adventure tourism activities, and specify minimum requirements for information to be provided to participants before, during, and after an activity.

The new state standards were adopted by AZSTAND based on a proposal submitted by the Technical Committee for Standardization on Tourism and Related Services (AZSTAND/TC 06) established under the State Tourism Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and have been included in the State Fund of Normative Documents on Standardization.
