The Photometry and Radiometry Laboratory of the Azerbaijan Metrology Institute (AzMI), operating under the State Service for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, has joined a key comparison on luminous intensity organized by the Inter-American Metrology System (SIM).
In addition to AzMI, the comparison involves national metrology institutes from the United States, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, the Republic of Korea, Mexico, Peru, Thailand, Chinese Taipei and Uzbekistan.
The comparison involves the measurement and comparative evaluation of the luminous intensity of tungsten incandescent standard lamps at a specified correlated colour temperature and under the relevant electrical operating conditions.
The international comparison has been published in the Key Comparison Database (KCDB) of the International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM) under the identifier “SIM.PR-K3”.
As part of the comparison, the Photometry and Radiometry Laboratory of AzMI is scheduled to use OSRAM WI41/G tungsten incandescent luminous-intensity standard lamps.
Following completion of the comparison, the results obtained will undergo expert evaluation. Based on the assessment results, the participating laboratories’ relevant calibration and measurement capabilities will be published in the KCDB, which contributes to the international recognition of the laboratory’s measurements.
It should be noted that the Photometry and Radiometry Laboratory of AzMI performs high-precision measurements of the photometric characteristics of light sources, optical systems and materials. The laboratory is equipped to measure key parameters such as luminous intensity and illuminance, as well as other photometric quantities and spectral characteristics.
