ILAC is an international organization dedicated to the accreditation of laboratories. Established in 1977, ILAC aims to promote trade development and foster international cooperation by encouraging the acceptance of accreditation results and calibration tests. The organization's primary objective is to build relationships among accreditation bodies worldwide.
On November 2, 2000, 36 accreditation bodies from twenty-eight countries signed the ILAC Mutual Recognition Arrangement in Washington. This agreement, which took effect on January 31, 2001, helps strengthen the international trade system by recognizing test and calibration results from laboratories in different countries.
Since 2012, the Azerbaijan Accreditation Center (formerly known as the State Accreditation Service) has been a corresponding member of ILAC, and as of March 7, 2018, it has held the status of an Associate member.
