The European Committee for Standardization (CEN) is one of the three primary standardization organizations officially recognized by the European Union. CEN's main role is to develop consensus-based, voluntary, and progressive European standards, considering the perspectives of all stakeholders, including business and industry, the service sector, the public sector, research centers, and consumers. CEN has thirty-four full members and engages over 200,000 international experts across 330 Technical Committees and 1,530 Working Groups.
The Republic of Azerbaijan has been represented in CEN as an associate member since 2011, following the Cabinet of Ministers' order No. 17/17/4699-22 dated October 22, 2008.
Since April 2018, the Azerbaijan Standardization Institute has been represented in CEN as a Companion Standardization Body (CSB). This status provides Azerbaijan with full access to European standards, the ability to align its national standards with European ones, and the opportunity for local experts to participate as observers in the work of any technical committee within the organization.
