On November 22, 2017, the Azerbaijan Accreditation Center was admitted as an associate member of the European Accreditation Organization (EA). In line with the country's leadership's directive to enhance the international recognition of Azerbaijan's national accreditation system and facilitate access for Azerbaijani products to foreign markets, a delegation from the State Committee for Standardization, Metrology, and Patents visited the European Union on the same date, attending the EA General Assembly meeting in Berlin, Germany.
At the meeting, the Committee’s representative highlighted the establishment of the "Azerbaijan Accreditation Center" as a public legal entity and the national body for accreditation, as per the Presidential Decree dated February 10, 2017. This initiative aimed to improve management in the fields of conformity assessment and accreditation by integrating international expertise.
The General Assembly considered the Azerbaijan Accreditation Center's application for associate membership, and it was unanimously accepted.
This membership is a crucial step towards eliminating technical barriers in trade with European Union countries and integrating Azerbaijan’s national conformity assessment system into the European quality infrastructure. The primary objective is to ensure that test and calibration documents, as well as conformity certificates issued by accredited institutions in Azerbaijan, are recognized in European countries. This will help prevent additional time and financial losses for entrepreneurs during the export process of local products.
