The event provided an opportunity to present information on the development of competition policy in Azerbaijan and highlight key results achieved through the implementation of the Competition Code.
A delegation led by Tural Ismayilov, Chief of Staff of the State Agency for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, paid a working visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan. As part of the visit, the delegation participated in the 60th Jubilee Meeting of the Interstate Council on Antimonopoly Policy of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and the 46th Meeting of the Joint Research Headquarters on Violations of Antimonopoly Legislation of the CIS Member States, held in Astana.
Addressing the meeting, Tural Ismayilov presented an overview of developments in competition policy in Azerbaijan in 2024–2026, institutional reforms carried out following the adoption of the Competition Code, and key results achieved in the Agency’s activities.
It was noted that the implementation of the Competition Code has contributed to the establishment and development of enforcement practices in areas including natural monopolies, unfair competition, economic concentrations, and abuse of dominant position, while also strengthening mechanisms for the protection of consumer rights.
It was further emphasized that market studies, improvements to the legislative framework, digitalization of procedures, and awareness-raising activities for business entities have played an important role in ensuring the effective implementation of competition policy.
The importance of exchanging knowledge and experience among competition authorities was also highlighted, particularly in developing more effective regulatory approaches to digital markets, natural monopolies, and emerging forms of unfair competition.
The meeting concluded with extensive discussions on initiatives aimed at advancing competition policy and further improving the relevant legal and regulatory frameworks across the CIS member states.
